Google AI Overviews usually don’t present up for branded or navigational queries. So in case you are trying to find a model or firm, usually, Google has not proven an AI Overview.
And actually, that also appears to be the case.
However the different day, Victor Pan from Hubspot, observed that Google was exhibiting an AI Overview for a search on [hubspot] – a branded or navigational question. He posted about it on X and it obtained quite a lot of consideration. And he’s appropriate, Google, for some motive, is exhibiting an AI Overview on this case.
Here’s a screenshot:
So I watched this and I examined dozens of various manufacturers, together with a couple of dozen manufacturers in the identical or comparable area of Hubspot and Google will not be exhibiting AI Overviews for different manufacturers. I attempted Salesforce, Zendesk, Monday.com, Pipedrive, Zoho, Semrush and so many others. Nothing – not but – a minimum of.
Typically, you do not need to see AI Overviews for branded queries. You do not know what it would say and if that may result in fewer clicks to your model as a result of it would point out rivals…
That being stated, I believe this Hubspot instance is an outlier, perhaps even a bug.
I imply, if it’s not a bug, then certain, panic as a result of:
TLDR; AI Overviews will possible damage branded CTR, however not kill it completely.
CTR curves are flattening
Web page 1 rating domination is getting tougher
SEOs want a deeper understanding of branded vs unbranded visitors greater than ever
